Mary Lou Zoback

Dr. Mary Lou Zoback is a seismologist and Consulting Professor in the Geophysics Department at Stanford University. From 2006-2011, Dr. Zoback was Vice President, Earthquake Risk Applications with Risk Management Solutions, the world’s leading catastrophe risk modeling company. Previously, Dr. Zoback was a senior research scientist at the USGS in Menlo Park, CA and for a time was Chief Scientist of the Western Earthquake Hazards team.  She has served on numerous national advisory committees on topics ranging from increasing the Nation’s resilience to disasters, Earth observations from space, facilitating interdisciplinary research, and science education.   Dr. Zoback is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and was appointed to the U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board by President Barack Obama in 2012. She has a PhD in Geophysics from Stanford University.
